Abstract
Summary Cell wall mannans were isolated from 8 different Candida species and separated in oligosaccharides by partial acetolysis. After gel chromatography specific acetolysis patterns were obtained. The carbon-13 magnetic resonance spectra of mannans and oligo saccharides were recorded. Signals at δ= 93.1-105.4 were assigned certain chemical structures. Both the spectral pattetns and the acetolysis patterns of the yeast mannans can be used for the disctimination of the related yeasts.
