Abstract

Nickel(II) iodide reacts with carbon monoxide and diethylamine to form different carbamoylnickel complexes, the structures of which depend on the ligands present. Thus in the presence of Et 2NH a trinuclear cluster compound is formed, while the addition of Et 3P produces a mononuclear complex. The structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. Some characteristic properties of these novel carbamoyl- nickel complexes are described.
