Abstract

V. Lassailly-Jacob - Village Structure and Migratory Traits among the Baule-Kode of Beoumi (Central Ivory Coast). Bauleland, with its old migratory tradition, still evidences a strong exodus movement. Baule migrants leave their homelands in search of employment in the capital and turn their back on the savannah to seek seasonal work or settle on forest plantations. Using a demographie survey of seven villages, the author looks into the original characteristics of Kode village structures and migrations with special emphasis on the influence of lake Kossou upon the migration.
