Abstract

The structures of six Chlorobium chlorophylls (650) have been determined. The pheophorbides are derivatives of 2-desvinyl-2-α-hydroxyethyl pyropheophorbide a. Variation of the substituents at C4(isobutyl, n-propyl, or ethyl) and C5(ethyl or methyl) accounts for the six different compounds.
