Abstract

Bimetallic octacyanometallates [Mo(CN) 8Ni 2(pn) 4] n ·4 nH 2O (1) and [Mo(CN) 8Ni(en) 2(H 2O)][Ni(en) 3]·2H 2O (2) based on [Mo(CN) 8] 4− were synthesized in aqueous solution, and their crystal and molecular structures have been determined. The complex [Mo(CN) 8Ni 2(pn) 4] n ·4 nH 2O (1) consists of novel two-dimensional honeycomb-like layers. The complex [Mo(CN) 8Ni(en) 2(H 2O)][Ni(en) 3]·2H 2O (2) contains a binuclear anion [Mo(CN) 8Ni(en) 2(H 2O)] 2−,[Ni(en) 3] 2+ cation and two lattice water molecules. Magnetic studies suggest a possible weak antiferromagnetic interaction between Ni 2+ ions in 1.
