Abstract
A new proton-conducting intercalation system of a layered polysilicate compound, octosilicate (RUB-18), was synthesized by exchanging Na + ion with half- and full-ionized dodecyldimethylamine oxides. RUB-18 intercalated by half-ionized dodecyldimethylamine oxide was shown to contain alkyl chains of the trans zigzag conformation by powder X-ray diffraction and 13C CP-MAS NMR measurements. The DC electrical conductivity and the distribution factor β of the relaxation time were determined to be 6.4×10 −6 S m −1 and 0.67, respectively, from Cole–Cole plots of the complex impedance measured at room temperature under the relative humidity of 100%.
