Abstract

Fully oxidized intergrowth tungsten bronze (ITB) analogues with the formula A x M xW 1−xO 3 where A = K and Cs have been prepared; with M = Nb and Ta for 0.08 ≤ x ≤ 0.12 at 1200°C and with M = V for x = 0.1 at 900°C. The samples obtained are always mixtures of crystals representing different members of the ITB structure family. New members, in which the hexagonal tungsten bronze (HTB) lameallae are the dominating structure element, are common here, extending the intergrowth range all the way to the HTB limit.
