Abstract

This thesis explores the structures of Graphene Oxide (GO) materials, including their liquid phase exfoliation to various layered materials, and develops a novel method of classifying and quantifying the layered materials in liquid. In particular, we characterize and quantify their Liquid Crystal (LC) microstructures and establish a structure–processing–property relationship. In addition, we demonstrate in this thesis two methods of exploiting their LC microstructures and processing properties.
