Abstract
A certain number of turbulent characteristics of the interacting flow of two thermal plumes of equal power are studied. This flow contains two separate regions. The first one, called the ‘developing region’, presents strong variations in the temperature and velocity fields. The increase of the radial velocity fluctuations produces a kind of modification of the anisotropy. The turbulent diffusivity deduced from the temperature-velocity correlation measurements in the second region (self preserving region) varies in any section of the plume and presents a maximum along the axis.
