Abstract

AbstractConsidering the growing interest in lanthanide‐based multifunctional materials two mixed‐ligand complexes [Ln(L)3bipy] (Ln=TbIII, DyIII) with carbacylamidophosphate (CAPh) type ligand – dimethyl‐N‐trichloroacetylamidophosphate (HL) and additional bidentate ligand 2,2’‐bipyridine (bipy) were obtained and studied by X‐ray diffraction study, thermal gravimetric analysis, and luminescence spectroscopy. The obtained complexes are monomeric and isostructural with earlier reported europium analog and crystallizes in the monoclinic system (space group C2/c). They are stable during long‐term storage for at least a couple of years as well as thermally stable up to nearly 200 °C. Both complexes exhibit f–f luminescence upon excitation into the 2,2’‐bipyridine absorption band, being emitters of green (TbIII) and yellow (DyIII) light. The luminescence intensity of the obtained complexes decreases constant exposure to UV radiation for several hours and then stays constant for at least till 32 h.
