A neutral O-specific polysaccharide was obtained by mild acid hydrolysis of the lipopolysaccharide of the plant-growth-promoting bacterium Azospirillum lipoferum Sp59b. On the basis of sugar and methylation analyses along with 1D and 2D 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, including a NOESY experiment, the following structure of the branched hexasaccharide repeating unit of the O-polysaccharide was established: ▪
