Abstract
The structure of the group-specific polysaccharide of group E Streptococcus was determined by methylation, periodate oxidation, and partial methanolysis, and the configuration of the anomeric linkages by 1H- and 13C-n.m.r. spectroscopy. The trisaccharide repeating unit→2)-α- l-Rha p-(1→3)-[β- d-Glc p-(1→2)]-α- l-Rha p-(1→ was determined.
