Abstract

In comparison to standard dictionaries of Biblical Hebrew (BH), the lexicon is neither a guide to the general semantic range of the Hebrew word discussed nor an exhaustive record of its etymological relationship to corresponding words in the extra-Biblical sources. Its main goal is to present linguistic and textual data (including the definitions of each entry) that, when considered as a whole, provide every indication that the word or phrase at the head of the entry ought to be classified as Late BH (LBH). To this end, each entry is designed to display information that may be helpful in determining the diachronic status of the linguistic item included in the Lexicon. Each entry contains the following sections: Lemma, Biblical Aramaic (BA), Classical BH (CBH) Alternatives, external post-classical source, comments and bibliography. Keywords: Biblical Hebrew (BH); Classical BH (CBH); lexicon; linguistic data
