Abstract
Neutron diffraction and SANS studies of silica supported metal catalysts have indicated that more active metal : silica catalysts are produced when the silica support has a relatively high content of three-membered rings in its network structure. SANS studies also suggest that the more active catalysts possess a bimodal metal particle size distribution.
