Abstract

1. After crystallization of secondary alloys AK5M2 and AK4M4 by granulation the size of dendritic cells is an order lower and that of excess phases 5–7 times smaller than in ingots of the alloys cast in chill molds. The structural components are evenly distributed; initial crystallization of brittle phases containing iron and manganese is suppressed. 2. The concentration of alloying elements in the solid solution is smaller in the granules as-cast than after standard quenching.
