Abstract

X-ray scattering and Raman spectra of Rh(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ aqueous solutions have been measured. The spectral features of the solutions studied suggest the presence of NO/sub 3//sup -/ groups bonded to a rhodium(III) ion. Though neither the Raman nor X-ray data alone are sufficient in themselves to be unequivocally interpreted, taken together, the two independent sets of data support only one model in which one dimeric species is present. 35 references, 4 figures, 5 tables.
