Abstract

Quenched zirconium–tungsten alloys containing from 0.1 to 2.3 at.% tungsten were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and microhardness measurements. It is found that in the process of quenching, the martensitic β → α' transformation occurs in alloys with tungsten content up to 0.9 at.%, and the martensitic β → α″ transformation occurs in Zr–2.3 at.% W alloy. The formation of metastable ω-phase occurs in the Zr–2.3 at.% W alloy.
