Abstract
Abstract Alkylammoniumhalogenometallate and the alkylenediammoniumhalogenometallates salts groups revealed dielectric, ferroelectric, ferroelastic, phase transition and non-linear optical. Up to now, little attention has held to the compounds of the type [NH3(CH2)nNH3]MCl6. Single crystals of Pentylenediammoniumhexachlorostannate(IV) was obtained by slow evaporation, at room temperature. The crystal structure of [H3N-(CH2)5-NH3]SnCl6, was determined by X-ray diffraction. This compoundcrystallizesin the orthorhombic system [space group : Pbca ; Z = 8 ; a = 11.747 (4) A ; b = 11.949 (5) A ; c = 21.164 (6) A and V = 2970.7 (18) A3]. The structure consists of isolated [H3N-(CH2)5-NH3]2+ cation and (SnCl6)2- anion. The SnCl62- anions are slightly distorted octahedronand possess no local symmetry. The shortest N...Cl distances indicate that an extensive hydrogen-bonding network connects the ions.
