Abstract

A study of generation of a magnetic field in a plasma, formed by radiation of moderate power on the surface of an insulating target, is reported. It is assumed that the source of an emf is the thermoelectric effect in an inhomogeneous plasma. The structure of magnetic fields and the distribution of gasdynamic parameters in a jet are found by numerical solution of a familiar system of equations considered in a two-dimensional cylindrical geometry. The patterns of the resultant systems of currents and of the associated magnetic field are given. The problems of diagnostics of plasma jets are considered.
