Abstract

Abstract Elastic and inelastic scattering of 25 MeV α-particles from 64,66,68,70 Zn have been measured. Coupled-channels calculations based on the asymmetric rotor model and the vibrational model were performed in 0 1 + -2 1 + -2 2 + -4 1 + and 0 1 + -2 1 + -0 2 + -2 2 + -4 1 + -3 − coupling schemes, respectively. Better descriptions of the experimental angular distributions were obtained with the asymmetric rotor model rather than the vibrational model for the even-parity excited states of 66,68,70 Zn. For 64 Zn, the harmonic vibrational model reproduces well the data. From the analyses and comparisons of experimental angular distributions, we conclude that a transition occurs between N = 40, 42 for the ground-state band and between N = 38, 40 for the γ-band.
