Abstract

C 15 H 13 NO 4 , M r =271.3, monoclinic, P2 1 /c, a=8.320 (3), b=7.597 (3), c=20.96 (2) A, β=93.69 (4) o , V=1322 (1) A 3 , Z=4, D x =1.36 Mg m -3 , Mo Kα radiation (graphite-crystal monochromator), λ=0.71073 A, μ=0.93 cm -1 , F(000)=568, T=293 K, final conventional R=0.056 for 931 «observed» reflections and 152 variables. The structure determination showed a planar central nucleus for the molecule with an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the hydroxy and formyl groups. The angle between the least-squares planes through the pyridine and phenyl rings is 133.0° while the angle between the pyridine ring and ethoxycarbonyl group is 169.5°
