Abstract
catena-Poly[cadmium-di-μ-chloro-μ-L-alanine-O:O'], CdCl 2 .C 3 H 7 NO 2 , has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The Cd atom occupies a distorted octahedral environment of four Cl atoms and two O atoms. These octahedra are linked through Cl...Cl edges and bridged by carboxyl groups of the alanine molecules to form one-dimensional rods that extend along [010]. Crystallization in C2 with a=16.240, b=7.272, c=7.987A, β=116.44°, Z=4, R=0.063
