Abstract

The crystal structure of a coupling reagent-benzotriazole-1-yl-oxy-tris-(dimethylamino)-phosphonium hexafluorophosphate has been determined. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic system with a space group P2 1/ n and contains four molecules per unit cell. The benzotriazole ring is connected through the oxygen atom to the phosphorus one, which is bonded to three dimethylamino groups. The anion is the hexafluorophosphate. The 31P and 1H NMR spectra in DMSO solution supports the structure found for the crystalline state. There are no conformational restrictions on both chemical bonds connecting the two parts of the molecule through the oxygen atom in DMSO solution.
