Abstract

The title compound arises from an unexpected rearrangement and oxidation. The molecules contain a center of symmetry and are held together by hydrogen bonds. The relatively strain-free molecules are closely packed with a density of 1.441 g cm−3. The compound crystallizes in space group P-1 with cell dimensions a = 8.999(3), b = 9.142(2), c = 8.625(3) A, α = 95.47(3), β = 105.06(3), and γ = 83.08(2)° There are two independent molecules per cell with each sitting on a center of symmetry.
