Abstract
Abstract The crystal structure of an eighteen-layered polytype of CdI2 has been worked out. The structure is 1222322211 in Zhdanov symbols and the space group is P3m1. The formation of the polytype is discussed in terms of the stacking faults created during crystal growth.
