Abstract

1. The method of directed crystallization in ultrasonic fields makes it possible to form either a flat or a spherical solidification front. 2. The direction of growth of columnar crystals is from the center area of the casting toward the periphery. 3. The use of ultrasonic waves in solidification makes it possible to improve the service properties of castings and in particular for A5 alloy to increase the hardness by 3.5 times and also to obtain castings without defects.
