Abstract
The compound [(Au{(C 6 H 11 ) 2 PCH 2 CH 2 P(C 6 H 11 ) 2 }) 2 -{μ-(C 6 H 11 ) 2 PCH 2 CH 2 P(C 6 H 11 ) 2 } 2+ [AU(CN) 2 ] 2 2- luminesces strongly (λ max =508 nm) in acetonitrile at room temperature. Both gold(I) atoms are in trigonal planar environments, bound to one chelating bis(dicyclohexyl phosphino)ethane (dcpe), and linked to one another by one bridging dcpe. The bridging unit is stretched with an Au...Au distance of 7.0501 A; clearly no Au-Au interaction is present
