Abstract
In this paper, the instrumental variable lethod for structure identification and parameter estimation of a multivariable system is studied. The model is in the canonical input-output difference equation form which can be easily transformed into canonical state-space model. A new idea of multipliers tests for the determination of structure indices is proposed, while a new structure identification algorithm is presented, which requires no a priori knowledge of noise statistics when the outputs are contaminated by measurement noises. The new algorithm considerably reduces computation efforts and has fairly good robustness in the presence of noises. Computer simulated results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm.
