Gewusst wie: Die Röntgenkristallstruktur einer Arylmalonat-Decarboxylase (AMDase) im Komplex mit einem mechanismusbasierten Inhibitor, der in das Dioxyanion-Loch des aktiven Zentrums bindet, bietet Einblicke in die Wirkungsweise dieses Enzyms. Die Struktur diente als Ausgangspunkt für die Erweiterung des biokatalytischen Repertoires der AMDase auf eine Bandbreite von α-Alkenyl- und α-Arylmalonat-Substraten.
