Structure elucidation of RP 63834 a new macrocyclic lactone antibiotic

Abstract

The structure of RP 63834, a new macrocyclic lactone antibiotic, was determined using homo and heteronuclear 2D NMR spectroscopy. The molecular formula C 63H 111O 20N 3 agrees with IR, FAB-MS and NMR measurements. The skeletal structure was inferred from the concerted compilation of the results of COSY, HETCOR, HMBC and HOHAHA experiments using a matrix approach. This approach allows consideration of all possible correlations consistent with the experimental data.
