Abstract

The properties of beda delayed neutron emission of the precursors around mass 95 are investigated using spherical Shell Model plus pairing. The objective of this work is to find out the important parameters that effect these properties. The strength functions and half lives of both even and odd Rb and Br precursors are calculated in BCS quasi‐particle theory as well as in Seniority Truncated Exact Diagonalization (STED) scheme. The calculated half lives from the two schemes are in close agreement with each other. STED gave much smoother overall trend which is in better agreement with experimental values. The calculations reveal that the so called ‘odd decays’ which depend in an essential way on the parent ground state configuration are of crucial importance in determining both half life, t1/2 and delayed neutron emission probability, Pn.
