Abstract
A dynamic motion of the encaged metal in the D 3h cage is proposed for Yb@C 74(II) according its NMR spectrum. In addition, the calculated NMR spectra of D 3h-C 74 and Yb@C 74 with a D 3h cage and the static metal are presented. By comparing Yb@C 74’s dynamic and static NMR spectra, the dynamic metal’s effect on the NMR behavior of the metallofullerene is discussed.
