Abstract

With the help of X-ray phase analysis, metallography, and durometric measurements, the structure and properties of steel surface layers strengthened by plasma spraying and laser alloying are investigated. Laser treatment of plasma sprayed coatings is found to lead to changes in the surface layer phase composition, structure dispersion, and an increase in the level of internal stresses, which increases the microhardness values.
