Abstract

1. The method of producing Al-B composite materials must ensure little or no formation of AlB2 at the matrix-filament interface. 2. Use of a matrix of heat treated aluminum alloy and increasing the diameter of the boron filament makes it possible to double or triple the transverse strength of unidirectionally reinforced composites. 3. The increase of the transverse strength due to crisscross reinforcement leads to reduction of the strength in the principal direction of the filament.
