Abstract

As urbanization becomes a significant factor in modern society, the security of urban constructions are very essential. This study focuses on the safety performance when urban constructions face disasters, especially earthquakes and fires, and analyzed the different structure and material methods. The results show the “chicken wire mesh” system could effectively protect the infilled structure from collapsing during an earthquake in a structural way. Furthermore, changing the ingredient or adding the admixture of concrete can also provide better anti-seismic ability with construction. In the field of fire resistance, thick timber board and ceramic concrete can effectively improve the fire-resistance ability of buildings.
