Abstract

The phase structure and magnetic properties of PrCo6.7−xCuxTi0.3 (x=0–1) compounds have been studied. The compounds were prepared by arc melting and subsequent annealing. With an increase of Cu content, the 2:17 phase disappears and the single 1:7 phase with TbCu7-type structure is formed for samples x>0.4. Tc2:17 and Tc1:7 in samples x=0–0.4 decrease with an increase of Cu content. Tc1:7 in samples x>0.4, however, is almost the same. For samples x>0.4, the study of their anisotropy indicates that these samples have uniaxial anisotropy at 293 K. The addition of Cu weakens the anisotropy of the Co sublattice and enhances the anisotropy of the Pr sublattice, which causes the spin reorientation temperature to increase.
