Abstract

The Nd 3− x Dy x Fe 23− y Co 6Mo y ( x = 0.5–3) compounds have been synthesized and characterized by Rietveld analysis of powder X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD). The results of XRD and thermomagnetic curves indicate that the compounds with x ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 are nearly single phase and crystallize in the Nd 3(Fe,Ti) 29-type structure. The lattice parameters and unit cell volume decrease with increasing Dy content due to the lanthanide contraction. The Curie temperature T c is almost independent of the Dy content and the saturation magnetization M s decreases with increasing Dy concentration.
