Abstract

A new type of MIG/TFC (Thin Film Coil) hybrid magnetic recording head was developed which eliminates the wire winding process of conventional MIG head. The coil of the head was fabricated by conventional thin film processes and technologies. The hybrid head obtained has a low inductance value and little wiggle and popcorn noises compared to conventional MIG and thin film heads.
