Abstract
Results are presented for two-component glasses. The effects of PbO content are marked, especially nearly the composition PbO · SiO2, which are related to change from ionic to covalent in the PbO and SiO bonds, The results agree with those from NMR. The Pb acts as a lattice modifier at low PbO contents, while it partly produces the lattice above the equimolar point.
