Abstract

The hydrogen storage properties and structure of Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1 alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction and pressure–composition–isotherm measurement. Both Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1 alloys can absorb hydrogen at room temperature (298 K) with rapid hydriding–dehydriding kinetics. The reversible hydrogen storage capacities of Mg3Pr and Mg3PrNi0.1 alloys reach 2.58 and 3.23 wt.%, respectively. The enthalpy and entropy of the Mg3Pr–H dehydriding reaction were also calculated.
