Abstract

Based on two degrees of freedom magnetic bearings asynchronous motor and three degrees of freedom axial hybrid magnetic bearing, we propose a novel structure of five degrees of freedom magnetic bearings electric spindle, which can realize five degrees of freedom suspension. The hybrid magnetic bearing has four segments of poles to control three degrees of freedom, and this structure also reduce the axial dimension of the magnetic bearing system. To start with, the working principles of five degrees of freedom magnetic bearings electric spindles is briefly introduced. Then the mechanical equations of two degrees of freedom magnetic bearings asynchronous motor and three degrees of freedom axial hybrid magnetic bearing are given. Last but not least, three dimension finite element analysis software was applied to the modeling and simulation. Simulation results show that the structure of five degrees of freedom magnetic bearings electric spindle is reasonable and compact.
