Abstract

A detailed layer-by-layer description of the most complete section of the Upper Maastrichtian Rocks at the Tankovoe Settlement in the Bel’bek River valley in the Sevastopol’ District of the Southwest Crimea is presented along with microscopic description of the rocks and an analysis of ichnofossils. Late Maastrichtian paleogeographic and paleoclimatologic issues of the northern margin of the Tethys Ocean are discussed. A sedimentation model explaining the origin of the cyclic succession is suggested.
