Abstract

Structural regulations of various conjugated polymers were very effective to enhance the electrical conductivity upon doping. Epitaxial polymerization of acetylene, stretching effect of poly- p -phenylene vinylene and polypyrrole films, and high temperature ordering of graphite texture are described in terms of structural regulation. The conductivities (σ) of these polymers were compared on a common basis of dopant ion concentration ( y π ) and a rather simple equation σ = 10 6 × y π 3 were formulated irrespectively of kinds of polymers and dopants.
