Abstract

Development of a soft tactile sensor is critical to the realization of wearable electronics and prosthetic electronic skin. Resistive and capacitive pressure sensors are promising technologies for the development of highly sensitive pressure sensors in low-pressure regimes. For resistive sensors, contact resistance at the interface between the active layer and electrodes plays an important role in resistance changes. This article offers the possibility to structure the predominant complexity of Smart Textile products and to assist in the design and selection of required technologies. It's structured description of potential materials and technologies. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has a major role to play in the damage identification strategy of engineering structures. Sensors form an integral part of SHM and the development of sensors with minimum effect on measuring physical parameters leads to effective monitoring.
