Abstract

The present investigation is aimed to study the effect of inclusion of L-Valine on the characteristics of Guanidine carbonate single crystals. The L-Valine doped Guanidine carbonate (LVGC) single crystals are grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The various characterizations are studied by exploring the grown crystals into Single Crystal X–ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, Ultraviolet – Visible-Near-Infrared analysis, Thermo-gravimetric – Differential Thermal analysis and the Kurtz – Perry test. SXRD results show that the grown LVGC crystal belongs to the tetragonal system with space group P41212. The presence of functional groups is confirmed by FTIR spectrum. The thermal stability of LVGC single crystal is found to be 240 °C which is identified from TGA-DTA spectrum. The second harmonic generation efficiency is 1.4 times of reference KDP crystal. The inspiring results confirm that the grown crystal serves as a potential candidate for photonic devices.
