Abstract

Pure bismuth ferrite nanocrystalline thin films were deposited on glass substrates by programmable spin coater using sol-gel chemical solutions processing techniqueand their structural, optical and magnetic properties have been studied. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the existence of pure phase bismuth ferrite with no secondary phases. Ultraviolet-Visible (UV- Vis) spectroscopy measurement was carried out to determine the optical band gap of films with different coating layers. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurement was carried out to reveal the nature of the magnetic properties of the thin films prepared. Typical hysteresis loop was observed having different saturation magnetization (Ms) values. BFO thin films having 9-layer of coating shows improved optical and magnetic properties as compared to other films having different coating layers.
