Abstract

Chromium (Cr+3) doped ZnS nanoparticles (Zn1-xS:Crx where x = 0,0.025,0.05,0.075) have been fabricated at room temperature without any capping agent by using chemical co-precipitation method. The samples of products were characterized by XRD, UV-visible (UV–vis) spectrophotometry, and SEM with EDX. XRD analysis confirms the cubic zinc blend structure of ZnS nanoparticles and the average crystallite size is in range (2.034 ∼1.96 nm). UV–vis spectrophotometer confirmed that the value of optical band gap was increased from 4.66 to 4.95 eV with increase doping concentration. The EDX reveal that only two elements Zn, S exist in pure ZnS and also it reveal that only three elements, Zn, S, and Cr element exist in Cr-doped ZnS nanoparticles. The SEM images show that the particles were agglomirated and some the particles were nearly spherical.
