Abstract

Strontium hexaferrites has significance role in hexaferrites family. SrFe12-2xZnxCrxO19 (x = 0.0 to 0.5) was synthesized by simplified Sol-gel method. All samples were first calcined and then sintered at 920 °C for 20 min. X-ray Diffracto-meter (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used to analyze its structural and morphological variations respectively. Microstructural variations were responsible for variations of reported properties. Dielectric constant, loss tangent, loss factor and AC conductivity were determined and discussed as a function of frequency (20Hz to 3 MHz) and dopant. DC resistivity was also measured as a function of temperature up to 600 °C. Parameters like resistivity and activation energy were also discussed. Conduction and polarization mechanism were explained on the basis of Verway Hopping Model, Maxwell Wagner Model and Koop's theory. Substitution of Zn–Cr also affected the ongoing trend. Ranges of both properties obtained are useful against Eddy current losses, devices like Multi-Layer Chip Inductors (MLCI) and other microwave applications.
