Abstract
Structural, mechanical and magnetic behaviours of FeSi and FeSiAl sheets when subjected to a nitriding thermochemical treatment are reported. The nitrogen distribution at the surface of the sample is fitted with an exponential law. Iron-nitrides have been identified by X-ray diffraction. High microhardness values have been measured on nitrided samples.
