Abstract

The crystal structure of Cp 2Yb·(CH 3COCHCOCF 3) has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The ytterbium atom is η 5-coordinated to two cyclopentadienyl ligands and chelated with the two oxygen atoms of the 1,1,1-trifluoroacetylacetonato ligand. A structural comparison of this complex with Cp 2Yb(CH 3COCHCOCH 3) is given.
